Scrappin many photos- "Från Ovan" 12x12 scrapbook

What I usually scrapbook now are stories or deep thought with a design that reflects my feelings and a photo to tie it all together. What I don't do very often is using many photos and no story but that is whats up today.

This was a fun challenge and I like how it came together but it really was a challenge. To make it a bit easier I like to make "recipes", stuff to add to make it a easy as possible. 

When scrappin many photos:

Keep it together- use photos in the same color family and size

Grounding- ground the photos with photo mate or corners, giving them a home

Framing- frame the page, make a statement of where the page ends and help to lead the eye

Title and info- a short title and info of the photo, here you want the photos to talk, let them.

White space-  or empty space, let the eye rest when it's not on the photos, plain background

I let the colors of my photos inspire the layout, kraft background and border of green leafs. The top and bottom borders are there to add interest but also fram the page. So are the flowers, they are pretty but also guides the eye back to the photos. My journaling is short and title in the bottom right corner, it's there but it is all about the photos.

"Trandansen" 12x12 scrapbook using Maggie Holmes "Bloom"

On Easter my mom, dad, my little brother & I set out to see the cranes dancing at Hornborgarsjön.

Every year thousands of cranes gather there before continuing on their journey north. It was amazing, so many of them, singing and dancing (well more like shouting and jumping around) but I thought it was unbelievable and breathtaking. 

Now this was march 26 and still barely spring but I wanted to add some element to the page that said "it was amazing", something to pop against the dull colors of the photos. I thought the yellow flowers would be nice, flowers usually are positive and the yellow is a happy color. 

I placed them to frame the photos and added a embossed title in white. All to keep the layout light and fresh, with focus on the photos.

"Wild & Free" 12x12 scrapbook FJ iNSD recipe challenge

Hello! I hope you all had an amazing time this past weekend and joyed in on the fun of international scrapbook day/weekend. I did quit allot this weekend but two layouts managed to be completed and I'll shear them today and on Wednesday with you! 

The first one was inspired but the Felicity Jane iNSD recipe challenge on their facebook group posted but Jen Schow (her video) the challenge was to use something craft, hidden, stamps and something horded. 

The colors of the layout was inspired by the background paper and the pink chevron bag that I got when I ordered from SirapiParis. This paper I wouldn't normally pick but when I saw it with the paper-bag I just knew it would make a really cute page. 

So the challenge,

"YES" A4 scrapbook using WeRMK "Wildflower"

Sometimes I just have an idea that I really want to try, a pretty photo or to play with pretty papers. When I was making this page the story, prompted by a journaling card, started to take shape. I have been so focused on starting with a story, making sure I don't just spit out pages that I now just needed to play. And you know what, I love how it looks and what it is about.

"Come Away with me" YES that I want to! 

Don't we all sometimes feel that longing of just leaving it all and travel far away. Well a bit away any way. I have had that wanderlust now for month, longing for a break and just a change. But I wouldn't leave it all behind, W is of course invited to my imaginary adventure.

Oh Deer and it all goes wrong... "Everyday Adventure" 12x12 scrapbook

Oh Deer and it all goes wrong... 

Yeah, what do you do when you step back from a page and you know it's all wrong, ugly and terrible? Do you toss it in the bin, set it a light or do you start over? 

Well have I have to say that I usually see when it's staring to go wrong and can fix it. But there are times when I'm so fixed on an idea that I don't see clearly. I think this has allot to do with your process. I hardly ever start with an "finished" ide, but let it grow, so when I'm so set on that end result, well it messes with me! 

But the next morning, I pulled it apart and started over:

So what says it's worth trying again? Well on this page I really wanted to tell the story with this photo. So for round 2 I picked paper and embellishments that had cohesive colors that went with the photo.  I kept the focus of the page concentrated above the middle line and added journaling strips instead of a block. The strips doesn't take that much wight but are still easy to read on the background. This means I still have my horizontal design but journaling under. 

 A few black elements to add contrast, wood leafs and gold adds some warmth. Sens this page is about W and that she is always on the lookout for deers I really wanted to use all of them from Maggie Holmes "Bloom" but I settled for the gold one and made a bigger piece of it. Also the title is rather big but sens the photo isn't zoomed in there is allot of empty space for ex an big title.

Love Emmet- A4 scrapbook page with Crate Paper & WeRMK

The album about my school years at Strömma is... coming along... I think I want to focus on telling big stories, that has stuck with me. Things I learned or important events and people. 

This story is about a horse. A very special horse named Eminente...

Emmet, as he was known, was indeed a special horse. He  believed to be the most handsome stallion ever lived and that everyone should treat him as a king. Now the sad truth was that he of course wasn't a stallion and not very handsome...

 So why was he so special? 

Emmet was a pain to ride, as many honest horses are, if you don't do it right, they will not go right.  He was very honest, but he also had "trust issues" which ment you really had to prov yourself worthy of him. After a time, I did (but boy did I have to fight for it!) after that he was a dream to ride and I learned so much from him. That is what the story for this layout is about, how lucky I was to get to know this horse and how much he learned me. I will always remember the feeling of when he really worked and how bad he was at jumping even though he loved it! (How he got over the jumped alive no one knows)

 I found out some month ago that he had past and even though I hadn't seen him sens I left school a little bit of my heart hurt. I was offered to buy him when I left (like I mentioned he was hard to ride and not many wanted to challenge him) I don't know if bringing him home with me would have made him live longer or kept me healthier but given the chans, I would go back and bring him home.

True Stories: New Year

This wallpaper thing has just begun! I love it!

Well it's a specific one, white with black vintage frames on. I have been cutting them out in dussins and have them under a big book to flatten out. 

This layout, like Monday's have some of the cute frames.

I find it so easy building a page with the frames, they are so much in of them self that I don't need to add much more to get a "finished" design. The background is WeRMK- Wildflower and the title & embellishments are Crate Paper.

 One thing to keep in mind working with wallpaper is to use more tape/adhesiv. Now I don't know how them will hold up for 100 years but I don't care, they are cute! 

 The story here is about how we spent New Years, I was so bad and my mom stayed home with me. Not that that hasn't happened before but I knew she wanted to see her friends and celebrate. So that day it was huge and I'm so lucky to have such a supporting mother

"My grandmother is one of the strongest persons i know. She has worked hard all her life, raised 4 strong boys to be wonderful fathers and now she takes care of my grandfather. When life gets hard she gets back up and fights.

Now retired, she is even more active, competing in agility with Stina. 

It really is fun to see them together, if grandmother was a dog she would truly be a Västgötaspets. 

I sometimes feel that we don't connect but truthfully, I think allot of what makes me... me, is from this strong woman. Her determination, fight and kindness.

Snowflakes in January 12x12 scrapbookpage

In the start of a new year we tend to reflect, evaluate and set new goals for the different part of our lives. In this part of my life, the memory keeping, scrapbooking part I have though allot. The other day I tried to organise my 2015 album (I say tried sens I sort of gave up). 

What stuck me was just how many pages I had. I've done allot of scrapbooking this year, witch means allot of pages. But it's not the number of pages that is the problem, is the leak of stories, real stories. Some pages have them but many don't. 

I still like many of them for different reasons but in 15 year, will I still like 

them only for the fun design? 

So this year I will focus more on the stories. For me that means changing up my process a bit. Now I try to write down the story before, having a clearer outline of what I want to shear. Before I started with the photo, then products and design and at last journaling. Now I have a notebook to write down the stories. So changing the process will be a challenge. I also want to continue to play, as I did allot in 2015, even though I ended up with allot of pages. So This is what I want to focus on for 2016 so it' only fitting that I share my "first" layout for 2016 with focus on the story:

Snöflingor i Januari- Snowflakes in January 

The first story I wanted to tell for 2016, and sort of have as a first page, is about snowflakes. 

Two thousand fifteen is over and year Two thousand sixteen is here. And so are thousands of tiny snowflakes, dancing around in our cold air. Our world is covered by a white blanket. Hidden are the bare trees and naked bushes. 

We look out over a magical landscape that sparkle in the winter sun. For a moment we forget the grey and the ugly. For a moment we only see the magic of the nature even tough we've seen it scene we where born, we still hold our breath, if just for a moment. To see our sparkling world with a wish that we never lose the magic of seeing snowflakes in January.
