Monica 12x12 scrapbook using Maggie Holmes "Bloom"

Hello! This week Monday to Friday I will have a new video everyday!!

Today I have a layout made from the scraps from the mini album I shared last week.

I have gotten so much inspiration from Hello Jillsky on youtube to start scrapbooking my family's older photos. This photo is of my grandmother at 10 ears old. I don't know if I will make more pages or how to make them but I really like how this one turned out.

I cut the scraps into 2x2" and then cut them on the diagonal. I used a tiny bit of tape to add them to the page before stitching them down like a quilt. This page is for my grandmother and she is very crafty, sawing, pottery and baking so I wanted something to fit her; quilt background. 

I will add some information to the tags later when I have it. I really like the end result and I'm hopping to do more o these pages with older photos.

Minialbum start to finish *2016* using Maggie Holmes "Bloom"

Last year I made a minialbum with some instagram photos and the Maggie Holmes "Confetti". I love that mini with photos and journaling about that time. I wanted to make another on for this year;

This year I used the latest collection by Maggie Homes, how else? 

The making of this album is really rather simple, here are the measurements I used:

 The pages are about 6*12" and scored at 4" and then just before 4", to make the fold easier. 

 I made my cover out of chipboard dressed with pretty paper. I made 6 pages, with sewn pockets, out of white cardstock. These are folded and in between the pages I placed a pieces of twin. I pulled out the twin throw two holes in the spine and then tied them.

9 photo layout, "Where does W sleep?"

I always try to challenge my self, here I wanted to see if I could make a page 

with as many photos of sleeping W as possible.

I think the trick to use many photos is to design a grid, where it's easy to see them.

Telling the hard things- Vägen tillbaka-

When I have things on my mind for a longer time it really helps to make a page. The process of sitting down and focusing on the topic. Trying to show it visually as well as writing about it. It's hard, but I feel so much better after, like I have gone over it enough and moving on. 

This page is about my longing to "get back" to my "normal" life that I had before I got my fibro-diagnos. I write about how much I fight and that I'm willing to do almost anything to get back. I also say that the more I try to get "back" the more I realize that it will never happen. I have no back to go, only forward. I wanted to show this that even though it's a struggle it's not hopeless. Color can tell a big story and I picked a few but happy ones. The Black and white photo was partly so I could add any color but also symbolizing the old and the new.

"Trandansen" 12x12 scrapbook using Maggie Holmes "Bloom"

On Easter my mom, dad, my little brother & I set out to see the cranes dancing at Hornborgarsjön.

Every year thousands of cranes gather there before continuing on their journey north. It was amazing, so many of them, singing and dancing (well more like shouting and jumping around) but I thought it was unbelievable and breathtaking. 

Now this was march 26 and still barely spring but I wanted to add some element to the page that said "it was amazing", something to pop against the dull colors of the photos. I thought the yellow flowers would be nice, flowers usually are positive and the yellow is a happy color. 

I placed them to frame the photos and added a embossed title in white. All to keep the layout light and fresh, with focus on the photos.

I hope you have found this page inspiring and that you can make a big statement with just a piece of paper.  I cut up an entire sheet and I still have many flowers left, yes it takes some time but to me it's so worth doing!

Oh Deer and it all goes wrong... "Everyday Adventure" 12x12 scrapbook

Oh Deer and it all goes wrong... 

Yeah, what do you do when you step back from a page and you know it's all wrong, ugly and terrible? Do you toss it in the bin, set it a light or do you start over? 

Well have I have to say that I usually see when it's staring to go wrong and can fix it. But there are times when I'm so fixed on an idea that I don't see clearly. I think this has allot to do with your process. I hardly ever start with an "finished" ide, but let it grow, so when I'm so set on that end result, well it messes with me! 

But the next morning, I pulled it apart and started over:

So what says it's worth trying again? Well on this page I really wanted to tell the story with this photo. So for round 2 I picked paper and embellishments that had cohesive colors that went with the photo.  I kept the focus of the page concentrated above the middle line and added journaling strips instead of a block. The strips doesn't take that much wight but are still easy to read on the background. This means I still have my horizontal design but journaling under. 

 A few black elements to add contrast, wood leafs and gold adds some warmth. Sens this page is about W and that she is always on the lookout for deers I really wanted to use all of them from Maggie Holmes "Bloom" but I settled for the gold one and made a bigger piece of it. Also the title is rather big but sens the photo isn't zoomed in there is allot of empty space for ex an big title.

"Day Dreams" 12x12 scrapbook

I day dream, when Wiola and I walk and think about how it would be if we where to start competing in Rally, if we where to move, build our own house. If I could make a living, doing what I love. We all have different things we go around thinking about, what we would do if...

So I thought I would take a moment to document just what I'm dreaming about now at 22.

The page is quite simple, not much product but I wanted to keep it light, let the background show. 

The kraft cardstock is painted with white and a grey acrylic paint and then silver splatters. I thought it looked like a sky and how perfect is the for the "head in the blue" so I draw some clouds and stitched. That took longed then I care to admit but I love it!  

 This page is one of my favorite, so many elements coming together, like this tag. I wanted a tag with the title so i stamed using the oh-so-cute stamp set from Paiper Projekt, a dymo word and subtile is a strip from Tim Holtz "small talk". 

 What is with the animals here, every time!! 

But she really is cute, isn't she!

Keeping the photo cluster light and small means that the background will have a bigger role. Here I really get the feeling of night and dreams without it being a dark or heavy background. I hope you like this page and that it inspired you to document your day dreams!

Turning 22 12x12 scrapbook using Maggie Holmes "Bloom"

The Maggie Holmes "Bloom" collection is perfect for all the flowers coming up now in April but it's just as nice for documenting a birthday with it's fun and happy colors!

I had four photos I wanted to use but after some thought (during a long time) I decided to only use these three that are the same size. Matting them on the frames makes them stand out but in a gentle and fun way. The colors are picked from the the photo and the accent color is black, to make is pop.

 This cat is seriously everywhere!!!
