Happy Halloween reef

Happy Halloween! What better way to show Halloween spirit then a reef on your door? Here is the one I did yesterday and how I did it.

The reef is out of Styrofoam and then I have the Halloween colors; orange cotton, black tulle and green and lilac felt.
Since I like to be able to use the reef again I use pins to fix the fabric to the Styrofoam. I start with to orange fabric and cut it in to strips. This way it easy to dress the from and just a pin i the beginning and end of each strip keeps it all in place.

So now the form is all dressed in orange fabric.
I wanted the base of the reef to be orange but with "shadows" so no I dress the form the same way with the black tulle.
Buy very how much tulle you twist around the form you get this shadow effect.
No it´s just to put some flowers and spiders on.
The flowers and leaf are made out of felt but I made some out of the tulle and the cotton too.  Adding some spiders and there you go; A Halloween reef the you can use over and over again!

Carrot cupcake

My favorite cupcake is this one, carrot cake! I couldn´t find a recipe so I made my own, hope you give it a try.

Cupcake:                  oven: 175 degrees Celsius 15 min
 dl= deciliter    msk=tbsp    tsk= teaspoon    krm= milliliter
2 egg
2 dl sugar
3 dl  flour
2 tsk vanilla sugar
1,5 tks baking powder
1 msk cinnamon
0,5 tks cardamom
1 krm salt
1 krm ginger
3-4 created carrots
75 g melted butter.

Start with the eggs and sugar that you whisk puffy. All dry ingredients you mix together first before adding them to the egg & sugar. Fold in the dry ingredients and add the butter, the last of it is the carrots. Pour the batter in cupcake pan/ forms.

When the cupcakes has come out of the oven and cooled of it´s time for the frosting!
100 g butter
100 g cream cheese
4 dl powder sugar

Mix It together and frost a way.
If you want a bit more flavor in the frosting, put some lime in it.

I just love carrot cake and if you try this recipe, you will to!

Halloween card

Today I have made a Halloween card but haven´t used any Halloween stuff. The card is orange card stock that I have draw-ed a border on and sprayed with brown glimmer mist. Some washi ape and burlap over the center breaks it off and the flowers are distressed. The bats I have cut out free hand on the same paper as the "Happy Halloween".

So you can make a really cute Halloween card without buying tons of blacks and stampes.

Halloween lanterns

Halloween lanterns is fun and super easy. Take a jar, preferably, a empty one. I used three different textures, tissue paper, tulle and masking tape.  And last but not least some googly eyes.

Start of with tissue paper and masking tape.

Then put pieces of tulle with masking tape and keep running the tape around the jar twisting it and placing more tulle.

This is my end result before eyes. By using different textures you´ll get that ghost/ mummy look.

See, super easy and really cute at no time at all.

top 10 Embellishments

A few weeks ago I made a post about my top 10 scrapbooking tools. The basics when scrapbooking, but  the best about scrapbooking, I think, is playing with all embellishments. So here is my top 10 list and the things that i use the most.
I love the romantic shabby chic style and then lace and burlap is perfect on their own and together.
How doesn´t love flowers? I can´t have enough.
On the romantic and shabby chic note, pearl! Need I say more, pearls and bling in all shape and sizes.
Pens ends up in both categories, the basic and the fun one. It´s only you that deiced what the pens can or can´t do.
I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant to the hole washi tape madness. But when I finally try it I loved them. The fabric tape is really a favorite but my advise to you is to get them with good quality.
I don´t know any one that don´t love to use old yellowed book pages or cute doilies, perfect for the romantic page.
Pearl and glitter glues will glam up any project in no time.
There are hundreds of different colors and brands. One spritz and you will never want to give it back. And if you can´t buy them, mix them with some eye shadow and color.
Stamps, motives and alphas. I mean it´s stamps...
For no matter what you style there are brads for you.
For the past 6-7 years I have been scrapbooking and doing this post I see that I may have a problem... I need better lights when I take photos.

Card "Even though it rains"

This last couple of day it has been raining here and that has given me inspiration to this card.
The word says: Even tough it sometimes rain and the magnolia stamp is quite perfect for this card.

Background and mat is Prima moulin rouge and washi tape from Panduro. Here you can see how I made the flowers. The stamp is colored with distress ink and some stickels.
I hope you like it

Latout: Summer time

It feels just like the summer is over but we are all ready in the end of October! It has been a truly beautiful fall here in Sweden but the though of the cold winter and icy roads is not something that we long for. So I took out this two photos from the past summer.

All the paper are from dcwv and the washi tape are from panduro and pyhobby
The title is made with a prima alphas stamp set that I took a white pen to the bottom of the letters.
The brads are from one pack from Victoria´s design house. The round journal spot is from k&company.
I do love the Swedish summer and fall... The winter is very beautiful and so is the spring... Well I think I may survive the coming winter, but I think it´s a good idea to have some "summer time" to look at ;)

layout: Lady of the lake 2,0

I´m no better then that I can admit when I´m wrong. Just like every other scraper, painter and crafter I´m not finished in till it´s perfect. I´ve had this layout hanging by my desk and it has been bothered my for weeks. It´s the "The lady of the lake", you can see it here . So I´ve seen this every day and I felt that it wasn´t finished. This is so hard because when you work on a layout you have to use you edit eye to deiced when enough is enough. But I deiced to give this layout a second chance. Now I don´t mind looking at it. But I really should get an album because now I have like five layout hanging over me.
Black marker to make a "fram" around the photos and the layout. Some blue pearls in different sizes to fill out the empty space around the flowers.

And the layout finely got a title!

I´m glad that I gave this layout a second chance. This really is a great example of that you need to trust you instinct. So before you put the bad layouts on the fire give them a second look, it´s really good for you how wants a challeng.

Flower pot makeover

I wanted some plant in my bedroom, but they just die some I have been with out them for years. But now I have had Britta for about six weeks and she is still alive so I should be able to manage a plant... I hope...

So a plant need a pot.
You didn´t think I was just going to leave it like this did you?

So a this little pot got a decoupage feel, but the only thing that is decoupaged is the butterfly. The book pages is a panduro washi tape. The pot is painted in white and some shell pink and gold. The butterflys is from a Prima alphas stamp and the black lace is from pysselskafferiet.

Now fingers crossed that the plant will live. ;)

Fall card

Today is about this little fall inspired card. The background paper is from magnolia as so is the stamp. The image as a mat out of some prima flower packing. There is prima leafs in the corner, I though I would skip the flower for once sense it´s a fall card and instead go for the leafs and pearls as berrys. So the red pearls is from Queen & co in the color "classy red", the washi tape is from panduro and yes, I use this on almost all of my project but I just love it. The lace under the ribbon in from pysselskafferiet and the ribbon is from my drawer, I don´t know how has made it. Phu, I think that is it, well except for the circle that I cut out and painted in black chalk paint and draw a heart on it.

Like it? I hope so, I will be back on Monday with more projects, but if you can´t wait chec out my Instagram: juliammkallen or for some inspiration my pintrest: JuliaKallen
This card is in cuttinandstampinchallenges chalk challenge.

Layout: Sweet Home

You can fined the pad here
It´s fall and as Halloween is coming up so I have made a summer layout. That is clear logic don´t you think. Any way I have used my new favorite paper pad. It´s the Dear Jane stack from DCWV. So if you are like me and love Jane Austen and that time area, this stack is for you.

Now till the layout.

I took three papers, a brown with fabric like texture, one that looks like a window with burlap and roses in. And the background in a paper with allot of letters on.

To break up the layout I put down burlap and lace across the page. I fastened the burlap and lace with three brads on either side. My photo in in one of the windows and then on a mat of the brown paper.

And now comes the fun things! Flowers and bling. Sens the photo is taken in the summer with the sun coming through I wanted to get that sort of magic feeling. The big pink rose is the flower from Monday and that helps to bring in the gold, together with the brads, leafs and bling. The burlap from the window I used for the title, My sweet HOME.

Unfortunately the last photo does not show the color really truly, but I hope you can get an idea.

Bathroom sign.

Here today I´m showing you my latest alter. I was shopping at  Pysselskafferit and found this wooden heart shape. I decided to make it in to a sign to hang on the bathroom door.

So the heart was first painted in a dark green color, then covered in a crackle glaze and then a layer of white paint. That´s the base of the heart.
Upptaget is Occupied in Swedish
I was going for a shabby chic with the white crackle paint and sweet roses. The flowers is also from Pysselskafferiet. The string is just some I found at a flower shop.

The roses was originally white, I painted them with a pink mist from lindy´s tamp gang. When the flowers had dried (over night) I then I rubbed some glue with my finger over the petals and then poured glitter over.

The pearl swirls is from Pyhobby and the the tiny blue glitter dots is from the stickels- waterfall. The washi tape with dictionary print is from panduro, and of course there is a dymo label.

The word is painted in the same color as the background. So now you know what occupied is in Swedish, it´s pronounced the way it´s written.
This sign was so much fun to make and here is a list of where I found my materials:

Britta is fabulous

I let Britta out in the sun shine in the dog-yard. I don´t know if it was the fresh air or to many sweets but she was bonkers. But as you can see she is Fabulous!

She is crazy but lovely. This little princess is now 12 weeks and you can really see her personality now and she is a fun and positive forward thinking bunny.

Flower makeover! -gold

It´s Monday and as you know that´s flower makeover time. This flowers has had a love affair with some gold paint. The dabber is perfect for "dusting" on the paint. But if the color you want to use don´t have a dabber you can use a hard brush, makeup sponge or your finger. Give it a try with different paints, crackle paint and glitters.
