Project Life week 38

Hello and happy Tuesday!

For this week of project life I wanted to try something different. Last week I used the Maggie Holmes mini kit; Flea market. I decided to go with a 6x6 pad from Teresa Collins; Life Emporium. I love the colors and the patterns are too pretty! This pad don´t only have 6x6 designs but some with 6x4 and 3x4 (and some other cut-outs elements) I also used the two sticker sheets that is in the collection.

Sens I only do one page per week I don´t have much room for filler cards so that means I have to be more creative! Here I have a title card, the "V38" are gold glitter letters from "once upon a time" from DCWV. In the right corner I cut out some elements and stuck them down with a stapler. on the bottom right corner I just made a simple collage, now after I´m not to crazy about it but yeah.
For one of the 3x4 cards I cut out a design from the pad and the other I cut out a 3x4 from the cork paper, added a sticker and a grid paper.
"Start each day with a grateful heart" well how about a gold heart? Or a gold bloop... Yeah not so good.
Just love how well this colors goes together, I would never thought of this combo but that is why it´s so fun!

Have a great week 40 and I hope to see you next week for week 39!

Right Now

Hello and happy Friday!

I have another layout today as part of "puppy-week". Tomorrow Florin will go to his new home and on Sunday it´s Peso´s turn. But for now they are all asleep so I wright with speed!

So on this layout I started with the photo (it´s Rubel, Peso + frog and I going to drive my little brother to school on morning) I matted it on vellum and then two papers from the 6x6 Portobello Road from the lost & Found by My Mind´s eye. That and the 6 x 12 piece in the right side are the only papers.
This layout I wanted to be fun and playful. The blue drops are from a mixed mist and the sequins in different whites. It adds to the playfulness and feels free.
The chipboard are from American Crafts and I got it just for the reason that I never buy chipboard shapes and i wanted to try it. Well I think they are nice and the jar with hearts are really cute but I don´t think I´ll but this pack again, maybe from another brand.
On several of the pieces I added glossy accents, and not very neat. I did add some enamel dots in pink, white and orange just to have some red-thread in this layout.

In all honesty if I would do this again it would look allot more... different. More pulled together and less all over the place. But I love that photo and the story, apart from the title. And Hey, it´s not the prettiest but in all the chaos it captures that morning.

8 weeks of Puppies

I say  puppy and you will think of this:

And yes this is how they look when you come to pick them up to take home with you. But For me and for everybody how breed dogs, this is not what we see. So sit back, take a sip of tea and let me tell you about 8 weeks of cuteness, laughter and allot of poo...

Lets´start with the first week. Here is Kersin the day after (the puppies came, as they so often do, in the late evening) Now every dog is different but this is how it was for us. The first day Kerstin was tiered and didn´t like for us to be too close. This is really good. This mean that she feels that this are hers and hers to take care of.   Day two we could with no problem handle the puppies, she feed them and took care of them.
This is Florin and Penny just a few days old. At this time they look more like rats but they are cute, in a ugly way. When they are at this age they eat and sleep. Kerstin lick´s them to make them do their thing. This she will take care of for the next 4 weeks. So for us what we do is to make sure they gain wight and that Kerstin is okej.
This first week they grow, allot. That´s all they do, growing. At 2 weeks they start to open their eyes, you can see here on Lira that she has eye-lids (how every she is sleeping) When they do open their eye, slowly and a little more each day, the eyes looks blue. This is just for a few days and then they become darker. Well for this breed but there are other breeds with blue eye.
When the puppies was born it´s was the start of July and that is when it got really warm here in Sweden. This was a problem for Kerstin, this was just to warm for her to lay with her puppies all day long. That puppies where laying on two thick blankets in the puppy-box, it would be to uncomfortable for them to be closer to the floor. But this made it even warmer for Kersin. So we put a fan in, blowing away form the puppies, just to keep the air moving and when Kerstin would feed them we put a wet cloth on her. It was really impotent to make sure that she drank allot of water witch we had to convince her to do.
Every other day the changed the blankets in the puppy-box. To keep it clean and Kerstin dragged durt in seens she was outside allot. So her you can see them having a picnicking. The first weeks we have the puppy-box in our laundry, for that simple reason that here she could by alone in peace but still close to the door so she could easily go out.
When they where 4 weeks we moved them from the tiny puppy-box to our kitchen (well where we had our kitchen table, we moved out, now eating breakfast next to the TV) So now they had much more space to run around. At 3-4 week they start to look and act like really puppies. Open eyes and some tail-waggling. At this point we start to introduces dog food. It´s wet and then mushed, just like baby food. The first days the point is just to get them used to have something other them milk in their mouth. They soon come to love it.
Bye 5 weeks they like it and eats more, how ever little Leone here how looks way to small was the one how always cleaned up. That is also a impotent thing to remember, puppies are just like children, different. Leone is not build the same ways as say Dollar that is very... round. And it´s so easy to just see that she is tiny or he doesn´t play as much or she sleeps too much. Keep calm and try to see the hole picture. Like Leone, we where afride she didn´t eat enough but if that was the case she would have been tired and not wanting to play... witch she did, more then the others. You know what they say... tiny but tough.
at 5 weeks we let them out for about 30 minutes at the time. At 35 minutes they where all asleep. They eat more dog food but still drink milk from Kerstin. Kerstin in not very interested in her puppies from the point that we started to give them real food, that is all she care about (the food). Of course she let them drink and cleans them but if she comes out a realises that there is no food she will head inside again. It´s normal for the mom to focus allot on food after having puppies. She needs allot of food to feed all 7 of them. When I wright this the puppies are 10 weeks and she is even worse so like I said, all stories are different.
As they get bigger and more secure on their legs that run more and play harder. From that they where 4 weeks I have been home with them alone from about 7 to 15-16 o´clock. So we are outside allot and this is so important for them! When they are outside they can move better. Inside that floors are usually hard for them to walk on slip often witch makes them hesitant to play and move. But outside on grass that won´t slip and can there for play and move more. This of course is so good for their growth both inside and out. Their musculus develop and they get comfidens in trying new things.
Another thing that has been very good for them is this tunnel. I have used this allot when playing with them and I think this is one of the reasons why they are so calm in their self. When they got it they started to check it out and then go through it. And that´s all good but I saw this as a tool and I started to shake it when they where running in it. Well after a few days every time I shook it all came running to run through it. They loved it so then I started to drag it. And they loved it. Then I dragged it over them, no reaction. This I made over two weeks and now they don´t care what I do with it. I can trough it up or in the ground and sens it´s light it bounces away. Still they don´t care. Witch was my goal.
For example I was going to take the puppies inside to let them sleep but after five still two where out and I couldn´t see them. turned out Lira had fallen asleep in the tunnel, that layed on top of Florin- Mission Accomplished!
So at 8 week, that is when they go to their new family, the goal is that they are healthy and strong both inside and out. That they are ready for the new home. A puppy should be active, wanting to play and bite things. Not to fun but this means that the teeth are coming out, just like on little babies. Now every puppy is different but if you are to pick up a puppy that won´t come to you, don´t play with the others or doesn´t look healthy. You should question it. There is so many breeders that put their heart and soul in to their dogs and then there are those how don´t. In this case you pick with your heart.

So you see when I look at Peso I don´t see a cute puppy, I see the past 8 weeks (well 10 in his case), that feels like 8 years, I see him as a rat. I see how he plays with the others and that he can escape from anything. (yesterday in was 12 times... and counting) I see him and know I have done all I can for him and his new family.

8 weeks, 2 month. It has been a time I won´t forget. When they opened their eyes or the first time they wagged their tail. The fisrt time they barked, well we call it that, they where more supried then I was. On Sunday they will be 10 weeks and Peso and Florin are the last ones to go. Then it will only be Penny /Wiola left. Then the seconded part starts. And I can´t wait to see her grow up as a part in our family. And to all of you how thinking of getting a puppy or take a litter, here are my edvice:
Have fun this first weeks goes to fast soon
they will have left / grown up.

This is my experience and it´s not my kennel or my puppies. It´s my parents how started a kennel but I´m the lucky one to got to spend every day with them.

Now I have to got and let them out before they break out <3
Thank you for stopping bye and good Luck!

Wiola

Hello!

I have decided to make this to puppy-week! I have made a few layout of the puppies over the past weeks and what better time then right now to show you?

The first layout is of Wiola and by far my favorite! Maybe because I sprayed the hole thing with gold paint...

The layout is started on a white cardstock, the grid paper is cut down about a centimeter on each side. Next is the wood-paneling (I think it looks like a floor) it´s cut to 12x3-ish. The sky paper is 4x6 and then the photo is matted on that same floor-paper. All of the papers are from Crate Paper Best of pad, and from Maggie Holmes.
The photo is edited in the Rhonna Design App and that is what inspired this layout. Under the photo is a doily and two tages out of watercolor paper. I just took a pink and purple gelatos and colored them before I sprayed them with gold.
The wood arrows and  heart are from studio Calico and the bows are resins I made and, you guessed it, sprayed with gold. And let´s just take a minute to admire this thikers. I mean gold with dots... Just wish they would come with more A´s.
The same cluster of embellishments can be fount in the upper left corner. Sequins, wood and gold = LOVE.

I´ll say this agien just because I can, I love this layout. The photo and colors and the dropes of glod. The only thing missing is journlaing but hay! Then it would be perfect, and I don´t do perfect ;)

Project life week 37

Hello happy Tuseday!

I have a new process video to show you and of course it week 37 pages.

So like I said last week, I´m trying something new. and in true Julia-spirit I´m making it into a challenge! So every week I will try a new kit/pad/brand. As you may have noticed the last couple of weeks I have used the DIY SHOP kit from Becky Higgens . So this week I going to go with....

Maggi Holmes Flea Market Mini Kit
This kit I got that same time as I ordered my Project life stuff. At first glans I just loved it but as it turned out, I found it hard to use. So that is why I pick it for this week.
On my week I have a simple Stories page protector and 3 4x6 photos. This week was very... well not much happened so I have this photo from around our farm. I love the colors so I picked the grey-ish cards from the flea-market kit I have 2 3x4 "photos" the on top is from Pintsres and the one with nail-polish are a Julia K original ;)

Last week I made a insert out of a design D and wasn´t sure how to get the most use out of the rest. So I went to the Papperclipping Forum and asked the lovely members for advise. So here is what I did. Turned it to a design A and made holes in the pockets. Not very fancy but it works.

On this page I know I wanted the photo, the lipstick card and the 4x6 journaling card (both made by me) But the rest I didn´t know what to do. So I decided to make a card for each puppy, to wright about them now that most of them are leaving.

On the back side the cards continue and the 4x6 photos are from the same day as the photo on the other side. (we have a week 8 photoshoot and this photos are "behind the scenes")
The week 8 page have cards from the Flea market kit but like my week now embellishments just plain. But now looking at it I don´t think it´s plain the cards are so pretty but don´t take away from the photos. On this page I have 3 journaling cards and 4 photos. As you might can guess we had the vet check this week and they where so good!
This was my week 37 and the puppies week 8. I hope you liked this week and to see you next Tesuday for week 38. But I´ll have a new layout up on Thursday I hope to see you then!

Project Wilna- part 5- Today

It´s the last part of project Wilna so I thought that what would be more perfect then allot of colors and gold?!

Here we have the last layout, to sum it up in there words: Color, Gold & paper-skirt.

And this are the word that I will take with me. How ever that colors here are very warm and the skirt is light. Almost so light that it get lost.

Here are the process video and the blog post.

I went with a higher contrast and cooler colors.

When you think of it, the layout don´t have that many layers but the title adds allot. Different fonts and colors will trick the eye to think that it´s more then there is...

To ground the photo I used a gold doily and a embossed vellum. The vellum is embossed with white powder over chandelier stamps. Love how it turned out.
My skirt is darker and feels heavier then Wilnas. I think it goes with the layout but I do like hers lighter better...

That is it of Project Wilna. I loved this challenge that I set myself. I loved taking a layout and making it my own, seeing the similaritys and the differences. I will never make layouts like Wilna but that doesn´t mean I don´t love what she does and can be inspired by them.
I have learned allot during this 5 week and so happy that I got the Idea.

Now next week I have a spot in her new class over at BPC and believe me: I can´t wait!

Thank you all for checking out my videos and reading my rambling and hope that you have a great weekend

Project Life Week 36

Hello! We are going in to September here is my first week:

This week I decided to just go with my "routine" (The DIY kit from Becky Higgins and black letter stickers from Panduro) I had allot of journaling for this week so I picked the cards with wood-grain. I really like this page and it only have ONE embellishment, the golden Studio Calico heart.

Like I said I had allot of journaling so I tried this pocket from Simple Stories- Sn@p.
In the pocket I have a journaling-card and underneath is another photo. (you can hear my rambelling about this in the process video ;)

So that was the main page (design A) but I also wanted to 3 4x6 vertical photos from the No Limit street art. So I took a design D and cut of the first row. Then I just took my mini stapler and put them in the top & bottom corners. Not so fancy but it works.

And of course when I got to the puppy-part the light was way to bad! But here it is. This is a page protector from Simple Stories so I don´t know what it´s called but I like that it´s like the trusted Design A but a bit different. On this page I didn´have as much journaling and I wanted to try something new. So I took the DIY-cards that had butterflies! I know I´m so wild!

Maybe next week I´ll try some new cards
have a great week

Project Wilna part 4- I do not know

*Process Video!*

Hello and welcome to part 4 of Project Wilna! Today we will take on this layout called Be Mine. You can check out  Wilnas blogpost  before you read on.

So Welcome back! Let´s get down to businesses: This layout caught my eye with the pretty colors and the "waterfall" of embellishments on the right side. I don´t like valentines layouts but this one dosen´t scream it. So what I´ll take with my is 3 things.
1. the photo. I like that even thought there is allot of going on the photo isn´t lost.
2. the waterfall.
3. the stamping with the roller-date- stamp. This is something that I think is so Wilna.

Here is the finished layout, as you can see, not so similar... Changing the colors and patterns makes a huge difference. The papers are all from the Best of Crate Paper that pad has allot of "cut-out"-papers that is perfect!
Most of the waterfall is from that paper pad, how ever I do have some American Crafts chipborads and a wooden heart. I´m so happy with this part and just cutting out all of those flowers!
I have a hard time with rub-ons and I don´t like them any more after this time... Any how, what ever happens on a scrapbook page you can fix! (99% ) The title is Project Life letter in light grey.
The roller-date-stamp and then the finishing journaling.
It´s not one of my most amazing layouts but I think that is part of why I like it. It´s just; nice... And I think it´s nice to do nice layouts and still think they are nice...

I hope you liked my rambling and to see you all next week for the last part :)
have a amazing weekend

Project Life week 35

Hello and happy Tuesday!

I have a new project life process video to show you but it´s only "my" week and not the puppies. My camera shot of during the puppy part BUT I do have photos!

Week 35 look like this.
I have started to see a pattern in ow I do my week, 3 4x6 and one of them is of the sky/ nature. 2 3x4 and a mix of color and black and white.  Now the card I have is (4x6) wood grain from yours truly, the first 3x4 is from My Mind´s Eye- Blush and I made it a while back. It has a poem made out of words from an old book that I cut out and put into a "poem". The seconed is from Becky Higgins DIY kit.
I really like this page, the colors and the studio Calico wood hearts! The hearts and arrows and the letter stickers from Panduro is my go to stuff. I have made several weeks with just that.

For the puppy page I tried something different... More color and just more stuff. The title card I made on water color paper with Gelatos and gold spray. I then stamped the week, added washi-tape and journaled. The gold studio Calico heart just had to finish it. I used the purple letter stickers on this page with arrow and cold flowers.

In the end I like this page but not crazy for it. I think it´s the second 3x4 card with the cold resin flowers and the washi-tape. It just doesn´t look good. I´m seriously thinking about changing out that card...
This was my week 35 and I have already started on week 36! Now I love Mondays and Tusedays because that is my project life days! Now have a great week and I hope to see you all of Friday for part 4 of project Wilna!
Love Julia
